Editorial standards
JDM NINJA publishes specification data, market pricing and buying advice for Japanese performance cars. This page explains where that information comes from, how it is checked, and how to tell us when we get something wrong.
Who writes this site
JDM NINJA is an independent project run by Lucas Tougaard, a Denmark-based JDM owner and importer who has been buying, registering and maintaining Japanese-market cars in Europe since 2019. Vehicle profiles, buying guides and import cost breakdowns are written and edited in-house — we do not publish syndicated or purchased articles, and we do not accept paid editorial placements inside guides.
Where our data comes from
- Specifications — manufacturer press material, Japanese market brochures and factory service documentation, cross-checked against at least two independent references before publishing.
- Market pricing — observed sold results from Japanese auction houses (USS, TAA, JU, HAA Kobe), European classified listings and public US auction archives. We publish ranges and averages, never single cherry-picked sales.
- Import taxes and duties — published national tax authority tables for each of the 13 countries in our import calculator. Rates change; the calculator is an estimate, not a quotation.
- Images — our own photography, AI-generated illustrative renders (labelled as such where used), and freely licensed photographs from Wikimedia Commons, credited on the image itself with a link to the source file.
- Reliability and ownership notes — owner reports, workshop experience and documented common failure points. These are opinions informed by evidence, and we say so.
How we verify
Every vehicle profile is written individually. Where a figure varies by market, model year or trim, we state which variant the number belongs to. Where sources disagree, we publish the range rather than pick a winner. Generated summary text is never used in place of researched content — if a page cannot be written properly yet, it does not get published.
Estimates, not advice
Import cost figures, market values and investment grades on this site are estimates for research purposes. They are not financial, legal or tax advice, and they are not a quotation. Always confirm duties, registration tax and compliance requirements with your national authority and a licensed broker before committing money to a purchase.
Corrections
If you find an error — a wrong spec, an out-of-date tax rate, a miscredited photograph — tell us and we will fix it. Send the page URL and what is wrong via our contact page. Substantive corrections are made directly on the affected page, and articles show their published date so you can judge how current they are.
Advertising and affiliates
The site is funded by display advertising and affiliate links. Affiliate links are marked, and commission never influences whether a car is recommended or how it is scored. Advertising is served separately from editorial content and advertisers have no input into what we publish. See our legal and disclosure page for details.
User-submitted content
Community posts, garage builds and owner reviews are submitted by users and represent their own experience. We moderate for spam, abuse and copyright infringement, but we do not verify individual owner claims. Reported content is hidden pending review.
