About the Honda Civic Type R (FK8)

The FK8 is the Type R that finally convinced the sceptics. Honda kept the 316 hp K20C1 but rebuilt the chassis around it: a stiffer shell, adaptive dampers, three genuinely distinct drive modes, and a rev-matching six-speed manual with the best gearshift in any current hot hatch. It set front-wheel-drive lap records and then proved civilised enough to use daily.

Investment Grade ยท Sensible

The Honda Civic Type R (FK8) (2017-2021) is a sensible buy rather than a speculative one: bulletproof reliability (84/10) that owners routinely daily-drive, low running costs (55/10 maintenance), and parts remain widely available (82/10) make the FWD package easy to live with. Values have been essentially flat (0.0% over 12 months), and a rarity score of 26/100 means there is usually plenty of choice on the market, so patience usually beats urgency here. The upside is modest, but the cost of ownership is predictable and the driving experience is the real return.

Price estimates are based on market research and recent sales data. Values fluctuate based on condition, mileage, and market demand. Not financial advice.
